Writing Song Lyrics

Songs are a wonderful thing and we all have our favorites, those songs that stir up memories of times gone by, a song can come on the radio and it can take you straight back in time. Most songs are made up of the voice that sings the words and the instruments that ring out the tune.

Some lyrics are short and repetitive but have made great songs, but if you actually read the lyrics of off the paper before you heard the song then you would probably think that they were not going to make a hit record. On the other hand there are songs with great lyrics that mean something and tell a story or relate to someone’s situation. When you read these off of the page it will be like you are reading a story that has a meaning and a purpose. These are the best songs in my opinion. Obviously a great tune can make the song a hit.

How many of us would love to be able to write some great lyrics for a song that would turn out to be something of meaning in peoples lives, to become a classic that will be heard over and over again, year after year.

So does it take a certain person to be able to write lyrics for a song, in my opinion I think anybody is capable of coming up with the words to write a classic. There must be so many lyrics out there in the world that have not come to light, which is a shame. If anyone has the desire to write some lyrics then I would always encourage them to do so and enjoy it, don’t be afraid of how others may receive them. For lyrics are basically a collection of words, there is no rule that says they have to make sense or rhyme, they can be what the writer wants them to be for they are their words.

Give it a go, see what you come up with it’s an enjoyable fun thing to do and you never know you may write a classic.
