So you have decided to study martial arts, that’s good for you. Martial arts are beneficial in many different ways. They can provide self defense tactics, improve one’s overall health, build confidence, and give you something worthwhile to do with your time. However, before you can enroll in a martial arts class or buy a self defense video, you must first decide which type is most suitable for you. Here are the proper steps on how to do just that.

Step 1 – Examine your physical condition

First, you must assess your physical condition. It is important to determine right in the beginning if you have any physical limitations that can affect your ability to perform a particular style of martial arts. This would also help you decide if you would go for hard style training, which is more intense such as Taekwondo or Karate, or the soft style training such as Tai Chi and Aikido.
