Correctional services has dismissed reports that there’s chaos and instability at the country’s maximum prisons, saying all is in order.
This after inmates at the country’s biggest prisons threatened to render the facilities ungovernable. They want prison authorities to consider a memorandum handed in recently, that calls for parole considerations for life prisoners. A video, shows inmates at the Kgosi Mampuru, in Pretoria, clashing with warders as they protest in the facility. At the same time inmates in the Barberton Medium B prison have called on President Jacob Zuma to intervene in their parole dispute. They have embarked on a hunger strike.
