Illegal Immigration and Our Constitution

What does our Constitution have to do with illegal immigration? Glad you asked actually. Now then, regarding the issues of Illegal Immigration, indeed that is the job of the Federal Government to protect “against foreign invaders” and yet we must also be weary of protocols, international trade and travel too.

The State of California is asking the Federal Government to make good on the monies it has spent in its hospitals, prisons and social services. In Arizona 55% of all inmates are now illegal aliens. Meanwhile we have 4.9% unemployment and while some complain of under-employment, this number is the lowest it has ever been in our nation’s history.

We need to know who is in our nation and we cannot allow drug shipments, coyotes, international terrorists or MS-13 Gang Members here. There is also an issue with Border Patrol help, integrity (FBI cases for bribery), quality of help, shortages and the problems are beyond acceptable. For instance the Jordan Commission of so long ago, nothing was done.

The argument of GDP growth and population growth and aging in economic output is a factor, but can be handled without surrendering our nation to illegal immigration flows of this magnitude or the next two order of magnitude in the next five years. The situation needs control systems in place.

As we listen to politicians talk about immigration, we notice that they all start out saying the right things and then as the speech progresses they lean either left or right or go into a “they are just trying to build a better life’ motif. Indeed, but since we all agree on the basics and the Federal Government has basic responsibilities given to them by “We the People” then those must be done and the irrelevancy of other things left or right need to be dumped.

First we must never forget on the illegal immigration issue that our government is to protect us from foreign invaders. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought.
