But before that, let’s examine what Metabolism is and why is it important for you to have a high metabolic rate in order to lose weight.

Metabolism is the amount of energy (calories) your body burns to maintain itself. Whether you are eating, drinking, sleeping, cleaning etc… your body is constantly burning calories to keep you going.

Your metabolic rate is affected by your body composition. By body composition, I mean the total amount of muscle you have in your body against the total number of fat. Muscle utilities more calories to maintain itself than fat utilities. People who are more muscular (and have a lower percentage of body fat) are said to have a higher metabolism than others that are less muscular.

For instance, let’s say you have two persons who are have same height and weight. One exercises on a regular basis with weights, in addition to aerobic exercise, and has a considerably low percentage of body fat. The other never exercises and has a higher percentage of body fat. The person who exercises regularly and has a low percentage of body fat will most often have a higher metabolism than his colleague who doesn’t bother about exercises and has high percentage of body fat. What this basically means is that first person’s body will use more calories to sustain itself than the second person.

Here are few best working ways through which you can boost your metabolism rate.

1. Do not skip breakfast or any other meal. Eat at least 3-6 small meals per day. This keeps the metabolism process activated all through the day and constant energy gets supplied to the body. Also, there is no risk of unused energy sources or unburned calories in the body that occur when you have a single full meal.

2.Regular exercises. Exercises help in increasing the metabolic rate of the body. Engage in weight training or cardio exercises. These help in building up the muscles which also helps in burning more calories as you get some physical strain to the body. Aerobic exercises helps you increase the metabolism rate as well.

3. Reduce the amount of saturated fat or processed food you consume. Refined sugar can damage the body’s metabolic structure and make people unnecessarily overweight. Be cautious of your diet pan. Consume more spicy foods.

4. Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. The chemical reactions that take place in the body that help in metabolism require water as the main source. So, drinking water also boosts the metabolic rate of the body and also help you flush out unwanted toxins from your blood steam.

5. Amino acids are essential for the perfect processing of the metabolism in the body. Consume foods that are rich in proteins, which is a good source of amino acids. Consumption of fiber foods helps you burn the excess fat stored in the body. Therefore the right quantity of proteins and fiber does the magic! It increases the metabolism rate and at the same time also helps in burning the fat making to loss weight quicker.
